School-Year Nanny Share

School is back in session and the autumn season is about to get hectic. Having a nanny to help lighten the load can be incredibly helpful in ensuring the kids get the care they need before and after school. For families that don’t want to hire a full-time nanny, a nanny share is a great option.

How does a nanny share work?

A nanny share means that two or more families share the services of one nanny. That means the nanny’s wage is usually a bit higher because it is split between the group. This makes it more affordable for each family. One family generally offers to have the nanny work in their home as the landing location. This will be where the kids are on the designated days of childcare. If there are specific supplies needed for the kids, they are kept at the home where the kids will be during that time. Sometimes, families go in on supplies or products that the kids can share – games, snacks, bikes, or other items that can be helpful.

Hiring a nanny to help get the kids off to school in the morning and then pick them up at the end of the school day can be very helpful for working parents. So, if you know other families that have children in the same school, consider having a nanny help get the kids where they need to be, so you can head to your regular activities without a worry.

Keep in mind, however, that nannies that work in the home are consider employees and need to be paid as such. That means, you and the families that hire the nanny are required to pay federal and state taxes on the wages that you are paying them. If you don’t, you could be making a very costly mistake. You could be liable for backed taxes, hefty fines, and even tax evasion. That is why many of the families we work with choose to hire a household payroll service that ensures all taxes, benefits, and other withholdings are properly deducted from each paycheck.

Nanny shares are becoming more and more common in the world of household staffing. It is an affordable option for many families and provides an alternative to overcrowded daycare centers or after-school childcare on school campuses. Not to mention, it gives your kids the opportunity to build solid relationships with other kids and another adult that loves and cares for them.

We have a variety of experienced nannies for you to choose from. No matter how unique your childcare situation is, we have a nanny that is experienced and ready to work. Contact our team today to get the placement process started.
