Clean Your House in 15 Minutes a Day

Maintain a spotless home with just 15 minutes of cleaning per day. Create a schedule for each day of the week, focusing on different tasks like mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning sinks and counters. Use weekends for more intensive tasks or take time off. Consider hiring a housekeeper for consistent cleanliness.

Main Points:

  • 15 minutes a day of cleaning adds up.
  • Create a 15 minute cleaning schedule for each day of the week.
  • Weekends can be used for more intensive tasks or time off.
  • Consider hiring a housekeeper for consistent cleanliness.

Whether you’re running a business, wrangling children, or both, you’re busy. Sometimes it can be challenging to find time to eat, let alone clean the house. What if we told you that with just 15 min a day of cleaning, you can enjoy a spotless home?

A clean home is about more than hygiene (though that is certainly important). When you conquer clutter and master mess, you can actually increase your sense of calm. A 15 minute cleaning routine is just as beneficial as any other small self-care task. Think of it like getting a facial for your brain!

Plus, 15 minute cleaning is a great way to help your household staff budget their time. Your nanny-housekeeper may be busy with the kids, but with 15 minutes of cleaning, they can also transform your home.

Create a 15 Minute Cleaning Schedule

Fifteen minutes a day of cleaning may not seem like a lot, but it does add up! Even if you take the weekends off, you will reclaim an hour and fifteen minutes over the course of five days. While that would be tedious in one sitting, it’s a breeze when you break it up.

We advise you to create a 15 minute cleaning schedule that includes consistent cleaning tasks for each day of the week. On most days, you’ll choose a 15 minute cleaning task. On other days, you may be able to do two or three smaller tasks.

We’ll share a 15 min a day cleaning schedule example below, but feel free to customize it to suit your home and lifestyle.

Monday

Start the week by filling your home with the fresh scent of your favorite floor cleaner! Use a grab-and-go mop, like a Swiffer, to give your floors a cursory mopping. It’s a quick, efficient way to refresh your home after a long week of tracking dirt in from the outside. It’s okay if you don’t manage to mop your whole home, but aim to hit high-traffic areas that need the most TLC.

Tuesday

Finish what you started and spend your Tuesday vacuuming! Have an easy-to-use vacuum on hand, like a cordless or hand-held vacuum. Depending on the size of your home, it can be easy to get caught up in this task. We suggest setting a timer and walking away when it goes off.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, aim to conquer your sinks and counters. We like to curate a “counter day” playlist with 15 minutes of upbeat music. Get your groove on while you wipe away crumbs, spills, or grime in your kitchen and bathrooms!

Thursday

Thursday is a great day to conquer the tasks you’re looking forward to least because Friday is right around the corner! We use this day to focus on toilets and mirrors, but everyone has their own cleaning Achilles’ heel. Maybe you’ll use your Thursday to conquer laundry or swap for one of the tasks above.

Friday

Friday is the day we like to take on tiny tidying tasks. Consider using it to empty the trash bins around the house, wipe down the stovetop, or put away clutter. Keep tasks quick and easy to end your week.

What About Weekends?

Weekends tend to be a bit more flexible. We generally advise you to carve out 30 minutes during the weekend. You can split it across two days, or choose 30 minutes on one weekend day. The goal is to conquer a more intensive task.

Your weekend task can be the same task each week, or alternate based on your biggest need. We focus on cleaning out refrigerators, cleaning our baseboards, scrubbing the tub or shower, and dusting throughout the house.

Of course, if you’d prefer to take your weekends off, that’s okay, too! We like to focus our energy on Saturdays and take Sundays completely off to enjoy our families.

The best way to ensure your house remains spotless with minimal effort is to hire a housekeeper. Domestic cleaning professionals have knowledge and experience that they put to use each day. They will keep your home spotless while you’re away so you can return to a fresh, clean home every time.

Household Staffing can introduce you to the perfect housekeeper in just 3 to 10 days. Start the hiring process today.
